Christmas Just around the corner

What has happen to this year ? One minute it was still spring  and now  summer is knocking on the door.
We have been busy de-cluttering our home and we are still not quit finished.
Because of that not much stitching has been done or anything else, hopefully we will be finished in the new year.
I hope that everyone will have a wonderful Christmas and a health and happy New Year.

Best wishes from all of us here at Christina's Craft and Gifts.

Time to stitch with wool.

Winter may be officially over but the cold weather seems to be hanging around, along with the associated colds and sniffles. Which means it's still a good time to do some wool embroidery using threads like Appletons, Gumnut Yarns, Kaccoonda, Paterna/Paterayan and the like.  You could make a knee rug for either yourself or someone else against the cold nights.

Or you could make a glass case with a trailing vine on it.

How does a customised sleeveless vest with  flowers and blossoms sound.

And with the way wool embroidery grows you could make a pretty and pink pincushion as a Christmas gift, or a lion pillow.

That's all for today, happy stitching from all of us at Christina's Craft and  Gifts.

Stitching for that special man in your life.

With just 5 weeks away to Fathers Day, why not stitch for that special man in your
life some thing he will cherish.
What man who is a boaty, would not like to have this "Heading for Home" crewel work stitched for him .
Portions of this work is printed and the rest you stitch with Paternayan wool.

There is of course a couple of cross stitch charts I have picked.  One is all about  Antique Fire Engines and the other is about 50 different Professions.  And for the
sporting man there is Sporting Adventures.

For the man that likes traveling by air, there is always a"Hot Air Balloon" stitch with blackwork stitches in over dyed threads.

Or there is a "Jewelled Elephant",which is stitched with crewel stitches in over dyed thread and for something different what about

"Caslguidi with aTwist" both of these projects would look good in someones office or den.

For those of you who would like a trip to the Barossa but
have not the time to make the trip, there is all ways "Spring in the Barossa".

These projects are available ether as a kit or a chart.

We hope that this has help you with your Fathers Day present problem. Happy stitching from all of us here at
Christina's Craft and Gifts.

Good weather for stitching.

Well winter is here with a bit of a bite, but it is a good time to sit by the fire and stitch.

We have decided to start working towards 2018 Beating around the Bush Market Day.  I know that it is still over 12 month away, but we are designing some new projects. We think that our stand has been looking a bit tired and there are new directions we want to explore.  Rosemarie has already started, while Gunter and myself are still finishing some old work.

I am almost finish with the UFO table cloth  that was started by Rosemarie over 30 years ago and Gunter is working on a lot of slate frames, to replace our stock.  Then we hope to get going on our new projects, I will keep you posted and post some pictures of our work as we progress.

This shall be all for today, happy stitch from all of us at Christina's Craft and  Gifts.

Mother's Day Gifts

We had a lovely time at the Barossa Guild Exhibition, it was a little  bit wet but that did not stop people
from coming out to see all the lovely work that the Guild ladies had done.

Rosemarie and I where thinking a couple month ago, what special  piece of embroidery we could make for our Mother for Mothers Day, we came up with a lovely brooch.

But we made to many of them, so we thought why not have them in our gift shop. As I said they are hand made and will sell for $30 ea. I hope you will like them.

We wish all the Mothers out there a Happy Mothers Day from all of us here at Christina's Craft and Gifts
happy stitching.

Gumnut Yarns.

Gumnut Yarns

Today I would like to talk about Gumnut Yarns, these threads are hand dyed in Australia by a wonderful  lady that lives in country New South Wales.  She is a very gifted dyer and all her colours blend well with each other.

There are 6 different yarns that she dyes, these are Buds and Stars (silks), Poppies (50% wool and 50% silk),
Tulips (mohair), and Blossoms and  Daisies (wool).

These yarns open up a large world of different stitch techniques, from stump work , crewel embroidery, long and short stitching, the list goes on.  Some of the techniques and threads we have used are shown in the pictures.
Once you use these yarns, you will fall in love with them just as we have.
