Good weather for stitching.

Well winter is here with a bit of a bite, but it is a good time to sit by the fire and stitch.

We have decided to start working towards 2018 Beating around the Bush Market Day.  I know that it is still over 12 month away, but we are designing some new projects. We think that our stand has been looking a bit tired and there are new directions we want to explore.  Rosemarie has already started, while Gunter and myself are still finishing some old work.

I am almost finish with the UFO table cloth  that was started by Rosemarie over 30 years ago and Gunter is working on a lot of slate frames, to replace our stock.  Then we hope to get going on our new projects, I will keep you posted and post some pictures of our work as we progress.

This shall be all for today, happy stitch from all of us at Christina's Craft and  Gifts.

Mother's Day Gifts

We had a lovely time at the Barossa Guild Exhibition, it was a little  bit wet but that did not stop people
from coming out to see all the lovely work that the Guild ladies had done.

Rosemarie and I where thinking a couple month ago, what special  piece of embroidery we could make for our Mother for Mothers Day, we came up with a lovely brooch.

But we made to many of them, so we thought why not have them in our gift shop. As I said they are hand made and will sell for $30 ea. I hope you will like them.

We wish all the Mothers out there a Happy Mothers Day from all of us here at Christina's Craft and Gifts
happy stitching.

Gumnut Yarns.

Gumnut Yarns

Today I would like to talk about Gumnut Yarns, these threads are hand dyed in Australia by a wonderful  lady that lives in country New South Wales.  She is a very gifted dyer and all her colours blend well with each other.

There are 6 different yarns that she dyes, these are Buds and Stars (silks), Poppies (50% wool and 50% silk),
Tulips (mohair), and Blossoms and  Daisies (wool).

These yarns open up a large world of different stitch techniques, from stump work , crewel embroidery, long and short stitching, the list goes on.  Some of the techniques and threads we have used are shown in the pictures.
Once you use these yarns, you will fall in love with them just as we have.

Merry Christmas to all.

First of all, I hope that everyone has had a lovely Christmas Day. We here in Adelaide are having a 40c degree day, I hope it is cooler where you are .
I know that time has passed since my last blog, but I hurt my right hand and writing was not an easy task.

Rosemarie and I where invited by the Prospect Gallery to exhibit, an embroidery piece at their Prospect Community Art Show, the exhibition is on from the 4th December  to the 22nd January 2017 at 1 Thomas street Nailsworth South Australia.

My UFO stash is still as high as ever, not much stitching was done this year, I am hoping that 2017 will be
a more productive one.

This shall be all for today, enjoy your stitching,  see you all in the New Year and I hope that 2017 will be a good year for all of us stitchers.
So good bye for now from all of us here at Christina's Craft and Gifts.

It has been a while since my last blog

It has been a while since my last blog. September was a busy month for us, first trying to get ready for Beating Around The Bush market day, which was a week of Embroidery  classes  with a market day thrown in for good measure.
The market day was a busy day, meeting old stitching friends and making new ones.We for got to take a photo of our stand, the best I can do is show you what our stand look like two years ago, but this time we brought more threads with us.
Of course now we have the job to put everything back to its right place.

This shall be a for today, happy stitching from us here at Christinas Craft and Gifts.

Colour Streams threads and ribbons.

I guess a lot of us are watching the Olympics and what a good excuse to stitch at the same time.  I must say these Athletes do us all proud, to think of all the hours they have work to get to where they are today and winning Gold medals is not everything, doing your best is what it is
all about.

Today I would like to talk about one of our suppliers, Colour Streams owned by Robyn Alexander who lives in Mullumbimby
New South Wales Australia.  We carry her hand dyed silk threads and ribbons, her colours are to die for.  To see her threads and ribbons go to

We get our inspirations from her colours, as you can see by some of the samples below.

In the kit Seaside Garden,  the corner thread was the inspiration for the rest of the design. In the Romantic Rose Pincushion and the Trailing Rose Biscornu kit the ribbons told the story, and in Padthaway cottage most of the flowers are worked in various thicknesses of Exotic Lights.  Who would not get inspired by these ribbons and threads.
I hope that this has given you the taste to try some thing new.

Happy stitching from all of us here at Christinas Craft and Gift.
